The illusion is hopelessness. The illusion is lack. The illusion is control. Poverty. Lack. Loneliness. Limitation.
The dark ages still reign over all humanity, and the depth and persistence of this domination are only now becoming clear. This Dark Ages prison has no steel bars, chains, or locks. Instead, it is locked by misorientation and built of misinformation. – Buckminster Fuller
From the moment we enter this world, we are shaped by our upbringing, indoctrinated by society and schools and religion, programmed by corporate media…and taught to be small.
But that is NOT the truth.
We have incredible potential ~ yet most of us don’t even approach our greatness. You and I are amazing multidimensional beings, capable of incredible things. Great kindness. Great bravery. Great poetry. Great compassion.
We are capable of creating wonders: The Pyramids. The Mona Lisa. Pachelbel’s Canon in D. Art, plays, poetry, music, artificial hearts and holograms. We could create a paradise on earth today.
The atoms in our bodies are 99.99999% empty space — and all originated in the belly of a star. We are literally made of stardust and space.
That star-stuff has taken form as every living thing on this beautiful planet. That star-stuff has evolved into a species that is now able to build crafts that can return to and explore the stars. And we are only just getting started…if we can rise to this moment and move into conscious evolution.
For all our failings, despite our limitations and fallibilities, we humans are capable of greatness.” – Carl Sagan
Yet, self-actualized, amazing human beings are not easy to control… and so there have been those who have worked hard to control and manipulate us.
We’ve been taught to expect nothing from life except to be dependable wage-slaves – while others profit from our labor.
We have been taught to take seriously religious leaders who teach us that it is good to be a sheep, a child, and an obedient servant of whatever “lord” is culturally acceptable – while they profit from our tithes and gifts.
We have been taught to consume and to value piles of meaningless trinkets – while being starved of the truly rich grandeur of our inner reality and the miraculous wonders of our natural world.
In desperate pursuit of these trinkets, we enrich soulless corporations whose very existence despoils our home planet.
No more. For now is the crucial time…we are waking up from the dream.
The most valuable possession you can own is an open heart. The most powerful weapon you can be is an instrument of peace. – Carlos Santana
And so, with an open heart, let’s take a look at where our society is today — and the direction we want it to evolve…
We are in a time of great change. Our old society is collapsing, and a new society is being born. What that new society is to be… is up to us. The industrial revolution – built upon cheap, abundant, and toxic oil – is over; and so is the lifestyle built upon it. Our climate is radically changing. Our fellow creatures are being forced into extinction due to our behaviors. Our old social classes and hierarchy are falling apart. And predatory capitalism is consuming itself, impoverishing millions while a few greedily extract whatever they can. Change is here, whether we want it or not.
It is important to realize that a normal response to change is fear. When confronted with uncomfortable changes, it is natural for some to want to return to an idealized bygone era.
It is natural to want to go back — but it is not possible. The river of time flows forward…not backwards. And so that frustration and fear can often turn to anger and hatred. Anger at perceived threats, at people “other” than ourselves…hostility towards other races, other nationalities, other sexual preferences, other beliefs and other lifestyles.
This, anger, too, is predictable, natural behavior. But it is still a CHOICE.
It is unfortunate that a small group of humans benefit from, and encourage, fear and anger. And although ultimately we are all in this together, for now, these elite do not see it. They view the rest of us with contempt. And they are desperate to keep control as change is sweeping the globe.
The people of the world are awakening. We do not accept the phony materialism and debts of the international elite. And we no longer accept the idea that it is OK that a small group of elite is awash in wealth gained by manipulating global currencies while millions starve due the actions of a few.
NOW, something wonderful is happening. All over the world, human beings are changing both themselves, and their societies. For example, Iceland arrested the banksters and created its own currency free of the IMF – with a brand new constitution forged transparently, online, as a nation. They installed a brand new government that is of the people, for the people. Clean energy, free education and universal medical care for all provide a high standard of living for everyone — not just the few.
In other countries, it hasn’t been so easy.
But an awesome thing is happening: Higher consciousness and politics are now converging like never before.
…No one said it would be easy.
All over the world, millions are meditating for global peace. (If you google “global peace meditation” you’ll find a plethora of websites dedicated to regular global meditation events. )
I once felt I was quite alone in blending conscious evolution and political awareness. No longer! More and more workshops and groups are appearing that are focusing upon the convergence of consciousness and politics. We are beginning to understand that those of us on a consciousness path must address politics and economics – indeed all forms of control that must change as our species evolves.
Quite clearly, our task is predominantly metaphysical, for it is how to get all of humanity to educate itself swiftly enough to generate spontaneous social behaviors that will avoid extinction. – Buckminster Fuller
Now. Now. Now is the time for humanity to grow up.
The old days of the regressive reich, with its racism, classism, environmental exploitation, media manipulation, religion as control, sexism, and immature nationalism… these days are over.
Now it is our time to be courageous.
Now is our time to confront empire.
Sometimes this means calling out those who seek to take us backwards, those who work to increase fear, those who lie to the masses in an effort to keep them angry and isolated from one another.
And that is why I continue to write this blog . And that is why I will continue to call out those in the public eye who act as mouthpiece for regressive empire. In the United States, the most virulent and regressive mouthpieces of corporate and religious aggression are the Tea Party. (And by the way, even though the Tea Party has taken over the Republican Party, they are nothing like rational, reasonable pre-1980’s republicans – this is a radicalized regressive group that has scared many old-style life-long republicans out of the party.) Writes an ex-GOP operative:
To those millions of Americans who have finally begun paying attention to politics… it may have come as a shock that the Republican Party is so full of lunatics. ..any political party on earth has always had its share of crackpots, …But the crackpot outliers of two decades ago have become the vital center today: Steve King, Michele Bachman (now a leading presidential candidate as well), Paul Broun, Patrick McHenry, Virginia Foxx, Louie Gohmert, Allen West. The Congressional directory now reads like a casebook of lunacy.
So when I use some politician as an example, I am choosing them based upon their own actions and their batsh*t crazy words. The reason is that the stakes NOW are high. Our evolution depends upon our creation of a loving community culture that honors our planet and every living being.
The trick is to be able to confront empire, as Arundhati Roy says, to shame and mock it, but to do so with a smile — and even compassion.
Compassion is so big it can surprise us! When a person who has harmed you is genuinely sorry, are you able to forgive them? When the police officer who once beat you at an Occupy event finally wakes up, will you be able to welcome him with a hug? That’s the power of love.
